Why did we choose "Axia"?

Axia is Greek for ‘worthy.’ 

It is a term used to honor women for their service to the Church. In some Orthodox traditions, it is commonly used to venerate the Theotokos and female saints and martyrs. It is also used in the baptismal procession for girls and women. 

We chose Axia because we believe that women are worthy image-bearers of Christ.

Women tell us the name signals to them that their work is “worthy of being noticed” and honored, that they themselves are worthy of being embraced, supported, and celebrated.
