This month, we wanted to share a list of some summer saints who mean a lot to us, along with resources to be a companion to you or your family as we remember and venerate their lives. We've listed them here in chronological order for you to refer to in the coming weeks:

St. Marina of Antioch

St. Julia of Carthage

St. Elizabeth the New Martyr

  • New Calendar: July 18
  • Old Calendar: July 31
  • Book: Saint Elisabeth the New Martyr,  Ludmila Koehler (New York: The Orthodox Palestine Society, USA, 1988)
  • Veneration:

Troparion, Tone 4:

Causing meekness, humility and love to dwell in thy soul,

Thou didst earnestly serve the suffering,

O holy passion-bearer Princess Elizabeth;

Wherefore, with faith thou didst endure sufferings and death for Christ, with the martyr Barbara.

With her pray for all who honor you with love.

Kontakion, Tone 4:

Taking up the Cross of Christ,

Thou didst pass from royal glory to the glory of heaven,

Praying for thine enemies, O holy martyr Princess Elizabeth;

And with the martyr Barbara thou didst find everlasting joy.

Therefore, pray ye in behalf of our souls.
