St. Porphyrios once wrote that “whoever wants to become a Christian must first become a poet.” Poetry trains us to pay attention to the often-overlooked beauty, suffering, love, and joy all around us, cultivating the attentiveness that lies at the heart of the Christian life. In this 90-minute workshop, participants will be guided step by step through the process of writing a poem from lived experience. Open to women of all experience levels—from complete beginners to published poets—the goal is not technical perfection, but deeper attention, creative play, and meaningful expression.

Nicole Lyon Roccas is a writer and trauma-informed writing coach based in Southern Ontario. She is the author of several books, including Time and Despondency: Regaining the Present in Faith and Life. Find her on Substack, Instagram, or her website (www.nicoleroccas.com).
